There were major BART delays between Daly City and Embarcadero stations in all directions throughout Thursday afternoon due to an equipment problem at the 24th Street Mission Station, according to BART.
The issue stemmed from plastic debris on fire, according to BART’s media voicemail line. The fire is now extinguished.
Reports of delays were first issued around noon on Thursday when BART riders were stopped at 16th Street Mission Station because of an issue at 24th Street Mission station. Muni picked up the slack between between Daly City and Embarcadero stations.
Red- and green-line service were slow to return. The yellow line ran as normal between Antioch and SFO throughout the afternoon, and BART added an additional shuttle between Millbrae and SFO.
