On Thursday, Sept. 4, federal immigration officers arrested another five people at San Francisco’s immigration court, the latest in the routine detentions of asylum seekers here during Trump’s second term.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in a bid to fulfill Trump’s “mass deportations” pledge, has focused on low-hanging fruit in San Francisco: Those who show up to court hearings and ICE check-ins at government buildings downtown.

Mission Local has reporters at the courthouse documenting the arrests outside court, and we keep track of them all in a map and database.

We asked illustrator Neil Ballard to accompany our reporter on Thursday and draw what he saw in the courtroom and courthouse.

  1. In Texas it takes under a minute per case,

I had occasion to drive the entire Mexican border as background for a story a decade or so back and Immigration judges there were bragging that they could process individual cases in less than 60 seconds.

Technically those people got their required day in court.

Key fact here is that those millions are coming here despite getting raped and robbed and assaulted along the way because it is much safer than staying in their homes and that is because White American Capitalists have rendered their homes in a tropical paradise to be a hell run by dictators installed to oversee the theft of their continent’s resources and labor.

Or, as the cops everywhere explain in such situations:

    “Nothing to see here, folks.”

    go Niners !!

Everyone is welcome here if they come here legally .
Asylum seekers surely should be granted the right to appear .

Would rather see law enforcement devoting time and energy to the criminals .

Sidewalks are full of citizens who selfishly ingest drugs and harm everyone .

Those persons who are here illegally of course should not be allowed to stay .

A civilized society needs laws that enforced , accountability and transparency .

The number one problem in sf is the drug scene .

It could be addressed overnight .
Homelessness could be addressed by setting up a refugee camp like the un does for 6 million persons .

No profits dont want to solve the homeless issue or drug issue because they would be out of a job .

I do know when there is an encampment , homeless or drug den in front of the Homeless Coalition they call the cops .

    Explain that one .

Finally , local laws cannot and do not prevent federal laws .

Whining over sanctuary city is all pr to get politicians to waste time wasting time self promoting themselves .

They would do better , getting control of the crime , and having a plan to get the death and dying on the streets for years immediately addressed with an emergency plan that is effective .

The city and nonprofits dont care

    1. I think the number one problem in SF is the blatant greed and callousness of the top 10% of earners of our population.

  3. Go outside near Civic Center after midnight. There are literally hundreds of people there EVERY NIGHT, buying and selling stolen goods— so many people, body to body, the BART entrances and sidewalks are blocked. The drug dealers are called “Hondos” by their customers. They are not citizens or legal residents. They are the ones selling meth and fentanyl to users, who stand in long lines, out in plain sight of the police. If you don’t believe it, go see it for yourself. This is why there are people dying on the streets here EVERY SINGLE DAY. It could be your brother, sister, your child, your grandkid. This is the result of a “sanctuary city”. I’ve got pics and video if you would like to witness. This rag will never show you the truth of what really goes on because it impedes their virtue signaling. Go check it out for YOURSELVES. Then figure out what new excuse you can make up for allowing and encouraging this sh*tshow to keep killing San Franciscans. Admit you just don’t care about your fellow Americans, and you would let them die in order to continuing to support criminals.
