It might be an interesting journalistic investigation to research the bacon wrapped hotdog economy. Who owns the carts? Does the City license or inspect them? (I’ve never seen evidence of either).
How safe is the product? And who is making money off this business? Rumor has it that at least some of the vendors are bussed in from long distances to staff the carts. Is this just an urban legend? If it’s true, then how much are they getting paid? Is their employer paying payroll taxes? Who pays for treatment when a vendor suffers a burn on a hot grill? Who and what, exactly, are people supporting when they buy a street hotdog?

Always love ’em, but GAT-DAMN – the vendors ask a lot for ’em now! Usually about $8 or so!
i recall the old days when they were about $3 ..
$8 and we’re not even at the ballpark!!!
