A suspicious package was reported at the Mission District police station on Thursday night, the third suspicious package reported in San Francisco of the day. By 10:22 p.m. the incident was reported as resolved.

A text message sent at 9:51 p.m. warned those in the area to shelter in place. The bomb squad was called out to 17th and Valencia streets near that time. The package was called in to the Police Department and also noticed by a police officer near the station, said Officer Carlos Manfredi, a police spokesperson.

It was unclear if the package was outside or inside the station.

A search of the premises by police officers and bomb squad yielded no results.

“They looked inside and outside and didn’t find anything,” an officer at the station said.

The incident was the third suspicious package call answered by the bomb squad on Thursday. Freeways and roads were closed near the Hall of Justice at noon today while the bomb squad investigated a package at the nearby AutoReturn at 450 Bryant St. The incident was cleared after two and a half hours.

At 6:23 p.m. near Duboce Avenue and Stevenson Street, another package was called in and defused by the bomb squad two hours later.

This is a developing story and we will update when we have more information.
