Mission based artist Jennifer Ewing is planning a therapeutic art-making ceremony for evicted artists at the Mission Neighborhood Center Auditorium on Sunday. Ewing hopes to heal artists’ grief that might result from the loss of a studio and bring closure as well as bring artists together. She also hopes to draw attention to the ongoing displacement of artists through the loss of creative space.
Workshop participants will first share a potluck lunch and their stories of displacement. They will then create a spirit boat to take home and remember the event by.
The workshop takes place from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 6 at Mission Neighborhood Centers at 362 Capp Street. RSVPs are required as space is limited to 100 participants.
