A 38-year-old man was assaulted with a skateboard on the corner of 16th and Mission streets on Monday, February 1. Shortly before the attack at approximately 8:52 p.m., the man was involved in a verbal altercation with another man, also in his 30s. When the argument escalated, the suspect broke his skateboard in two, a part of which he then used to strike the man he was arguing with over the head before fleeing on foot. The victim suffered from facial injuries that were not life-threatening, and was treated on the scene.
That same evening, at 11:34 p.m., a 51-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were stabbed at 16th and Caledonia streets. The man was sitting when a roughly 25-year-old male approached him with a knife and stabbed him in the chest. A struggle ensued between the suspect and the woman, who suffered lacerations to her hands. Both victims were transported to the hospital and treated for their injuries, which were not life-threatening. The suspect was later apprehended by the police and taken into custody.
Police were called to the scene of a fire at 22nd and Folsom streets at approximately 3:15 a.m. on February 3. The responding officer found a silver Dodge minivan on fire, which was quickly extinguished by fire officials who had arrived earlier. The arson team also responded to the scene, and the vehicle is registered to a relative of a 31-year-old man who claimed the minivan. No one was injured, and police have no suspects, but are investigating the incident as a suspicious fire.
