Activists, community members, clergy members, and family and loved ones of people shot by police gathered in front of San Francisco’s Hall of Justice at 850 Bryant Street yesterday afternoon to encourage the District Attorney to prosecute officers who have been involved in shootings.
The case protesters were focused on is that of Amilcar Pérez López, fatally shot by police in February of this year. Neighbors’ accounts of the shooting have differed sharply from the one offered by police, and an independent autopsy revealed that Pérez López was shot six times from behind.
Protesters demanded Monday that the District Attorney file criminal charges against the officers involved.
