Navigating a conversation about race and police violence can be tricky endeavor, talking about it with your eight-year-old is another thing entirely.

Thursday, a group of parents and their children are putting together a march at the Mission Community Market to teach their kids about how to speak up on important issues in their community.

In honor of Black History Month, parents will march with their children to teach them about the Black Lives Matter movement. Although, parents at the march will avoid talking about violence they will focus their children’s marching on the issue of racism.

At 4 p.m. Thursday, parents and their children will take the stage at the Mission Community Market for a brief statement and a song. The presentation will be followed by a march through the market that will close with a circle.

Here’s more details about the protest.
