It is 9:55 a.m. but these photos were taken earlier. It is now 55˚ and expected to rise  to 58˚. Details for the next ten days here.

Today’s block: Treat to Harrison, 20th to 21st Streets.

I left my house at 6:33 am and finished within a half hour. Half way through my photo taking the daylight began to appear. More people were walking around. I did see a couple of homeless people sleeping in front of the Mission Rec Center but I don’t feel it is okay to take their photos. As I got to the end of my walk it was light enough to take a better photo of a mural I started with. I backed up against a truck and saw a man sleeping in the driver’s side but I could tell he isn’t homeless. I’m sure he must be an early commuter and resting before he begins work in the neighborhood somewhere. It was a good walk and shoot this morning.

With the light good early on, so much the better to sign on to document your block. Don’t wait!  Let us know what day and block you would like at info@missionlocal.com.

You can see a map of all of the blocks here.  The blocks in grey are being saved for others who have signed up. Let us save a block for you as well.

I have lived in San Francisco since 1961 when my Dad moved us for his new employment from Stockton, CA. It was great growing up in the City back then. We lived in Eureka Valley and when I became an adult I moved over the hill to Noe Valley. In 1982 we looked to buy property and settled in the Mission. We bought a pair of flats with friends & we both raised our families here. Our adult children have moved on. We remain and continue to watch the neighborhood change.
