Salim Mohammed folds a shirt for a customer.

The sun is shining its last few rays before the rain is supposed to move in, so here is your Afternoon Report:

Giants Swag For Sale

It’s been two weeks since the Mission went nuts over the Giants winning their third World Series in five years, but fans are still buying merch from local vendors, it seems.

Salim Mohammed, an independent seasonal seller of sports fan clothing, was behind one of the two impromptu stands at the transit plaza at 24th and Mission streets today. He said sales weren’t great, but moving along despite the fact that it’s been a while since the team’s victory.

“This is the third time they won, so it’s not new,” he said. Nonetheless, he added, “People are buying gifts, it’s the holiday season approaching.”

Within the few minutes I was there, at least three people came by to check out what Mohammed had to offer.

“How much for a pink one?” one woman asked.

“Got any jackets?” another wanted to know.

The shirts go for $10 each, though Mohammed says he used to sell them for twice that. And, lo and behold, before I left he had sold two shirts.

Missed Connection

Also spotted on Mission Street, on the corner with 23rd: Someone would like Jessica Brennan to call Paula. One woman who walked by and spotted the note laughed and said “Facebook is better than that.”

To each their own.
