Monday afternoon San Francisco Police announced that they’ve made two arrests in connection to the fatal stabbing of 20-year-old Ronnie Goodman. The stabbing took place a little before midnight on September 9th, on the corner of 24th and Capp Street.
In a statement from police spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza, the suspects are brothers, 26-year-old Javier Gutierrez and 21-year-old Luis Gutierrez. According to Esparza, they were taken into custody Sunday on charges of murder and conspiracy.
The news of the arrest comes days after the police released video of two men who were near the scene of the murder shortly after it occurred. Though, it’s unclear if the two men in the video are the Gutierrez brothers.
While the police are still encouraging anyone else with information to call their anonymous tip line, at 415-575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message, Officer Esparza said numerous people shared information following the release of the video last week.
“We’d also like thank the numerous calls from the public and assisting us in this case,” said Esparza in a statement.
As a thanks to the community for ongoing support and to commemorate their lost loved one, the family of Goodman is currently raising funds for the street crime intervention program.
We’ll update this post if we learn anymore information.
