Currently on view in Supervisor David Campos’ office is a unique crowd-sourced, community driven art exhibition.  Created by artist Todd Berman, “City of Awesome” consists of collected drawings and self-portraits from San Francisco residents (particularly District 9 ones) that respond to the prompt: “What do you love about San Francisco?”

“Art is a powerful tool for promoting understanding between people, and can inspire individuals to join
together and take action to make their community more awesome,” said Berman in a statement about the show. “My role as an artist is to give people the confidence to embrace their own creativity while transforming their individual ideas into a collaborative vision.”

At an opening reception on July 10, Berman solicited more drawings from various community members (which you can see above). The full exhibit is on view until August 8 at Supervisor Campos’ office. Check it out if you’re at City Hall and ponder the question for yourself: What do you love about the Mission?
