Every day, Officer Ellie Sadler patrols San Francisco for stray, injured, abandoned, and neglected animals. Some days, those animals might include loose snakes, runaway marmots, and lost goats.

Sadler is an officer with San Francisco’s Department of Animal Care and Control, a special unit dedicated to enforcing animal control and welfare laws. In her 12 years doing this work, she’s learned that, even though it’s a challenge, to do her job properly she has to “be prepared to be heart broken.”

  1. I worked with Ellie a long time ago and I would like say this video is a lovely tribute – she is one of the best.
