If you are up right at 7 a.m. today you may catch the tail end of the Orionid Meteor Shower, which is created by the debris of Halley’s Comet. Space.com explains the Orionid is one of two showers created by Halley’s and peaks today before sunrise. There is also a webcast if you don’t feel like leaving the warmth of your bed.

On BART-less Alcatraz, a former inmate was invited to spend the night in his old cell, more than 50 years after he was a prisoner on the island. Bill Baker said he wanted to revisit his cell in order to “figure some things out.”
