Anthony Myint of Mission Chinese Food and Commonwealth and Andrew Barnett of Ecco Caffé roasters are preparing to open a new cafe at the corner of 18th and San Carlos Streets. This Kickstarter campaign hopes to raise $10,000 in the next month. The funds will be used to create outdoor seating and access to the street, Myint says in the fundraiser video. Thanks, MissionMission.

Today at 3:30 p.m. Mission District students and families plan to march through the neighborhood to publicly state that “attending college is the expectation, not the exception, for Mission district students.” Mission Graduates, a local non-profit that works to increase the number of K-12 students prepared for a college education, helped organize the event.

Supervisor David Campos and SF Board of Education Commissioner Sandra Fewer are also planned to be at the event. The walk will begin at 24th and Mission Streets and end at the City College of San Francisco Mission district campus at 1125 Valencia Street.

In other news, the San Francisco 49ers have been chosen to host the 2016 Super Bowl at the new $1.2 billion stadium anticipated to be completed in Santa Clara in 2014.
