Today is May Day, or International Workers’ Day. The San Francisco nonprofit Community United Against Violence has organized a march for immigrant justice from the Mission to Civic Center, starting at the 24th and Mission Street BART plaza at 3 p.m.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is planning to stop by 826 Valencia during his visit in San Francisco today. Check back with Mission Local for coverage.

Mayor Ed Lee is encouraging businesses and the city to provide more summer jobs for youth this year. Lee would like to see the city beat its national record last year of 5,200 jobs and internships; his goal is to reach 6,000. Read more on SFGate here.
