The Gentrification Files: 859 Alabama Street

Michelangelo’s “David” was hewn from precious Carrara marble.

And the huge bathroom inside the luxury loft for sale at 859 Alabama St. is, too. The walls are lined in this fine marble, along with a carved Carrara marble bathtub and separate shower. It looks ridiculously expensive.

Hey, it’s only $1.775 million, but, pinkie swear, it’s worth it. Maybe. It comes with an elevator.

In 2009, the average detached home value in 2009 in this section of the Mission was about $399,281.
