A 19-year-old man was shot this morning at 1:40 a.m. on 18th and Mission streets.

The victim was with a friend when the suspect approached them and fired shots. The victim and his friend ran toward Valencia and 18th streets. The victim was later transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled on foot.

Samir Shariff, an employee at City Smoke & Gift Shop on the corner of 18th and Mission streets, was inside the shop and ducked to the floor when he heard shots fired.

“I heard about 8 shots,” Shariff said. “I think it was an automatic because each shot was perfectly timed, one after the other.”

“I was sleeping, but the gun shots woke me up,” added Tiffany Larue, an 18th Street resident.

Neighbor Hadley Robinson saw the victim leaning against a car in pain after he was shot. He was conscious when the ambulance arrived. The police shut off 18th Street between Lexington and San Carlos for at least half an hour.

The Gang Task Force was consulted, but at this point there is no indication that the shooting was gang related. Mission Station is leading the investigation.

We will update this post as we get more information.

  1. 18th and Mission is also where the grocery store Mi Ranchito is which employs an extremely rude 9-year-old boy as a cashier.

    1. Actually, he’s a very smart kid that speaks three or more languages. You are probably just a jerk, obviously, since you got so side tracked from the seriousness of the shooting story.
