The parish at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic church has provided breakfast to hungry day laborers on Cesar Chavez Street for the past 15 years. Every Monday through Saturday, these Christian folks begin the process of cooking beans, ham and eggs at 4 a.m. to feed hungry, often homeless, men and women, beginning at 6 a.m.

The church asks no questions; everyone is welcome to eat. It serves about 80 people a day from 6 to 7 a.m. Nearby churches help support the program by providing food and helping to cook several days a week. The rest of the time, St. Anthony’s parish members volunteer their time to prepare the breakfast. The church uses donations from the parish to purchase the food.

St. Anthony of Padua is located at 3215 Cesar Chavez St.

  1. I have put together about 30 presents for children. Primarily they are art projects and games. Some of them are used materials, but I have added new supplies complete to packages. I can also add about 20 unused books aimed and early middle school students. Are you interested in Christmas presents for children?
