event poster for Latin Jazz Festival
The first Latin Jazz Festival's last day of music begins this afternoon.

Four Latin jazz bands will perform throughout this afternoon and early evening at the Mission’s First Annual Latin Jazz Festival.

The music begins at 2 p.m. with San Francisco brass band VL Trio, led by Cuban percussionist Carlos Caro, followed by the 20-piece salsa big band Pacific Mambo Orchestra, also from SF. Last spring the orchestra raised over $10,000 on KickStarter to support production costs for its first studio-recorded album.

From Mexico, Laura Rebelloso y Ensemble Marinero will bring a more traditional sound to the festival with its four-piece string and piano instrumentation and Rebelloso’s deep, confident singing. The festival closes with Grupo Adelante.

Tickets are $18 general admission and $15 for students at the Brava Theater, 2781 24th St.
