The San Francisco Improv Festival will be announcing its 2012 festival lineup and availability of tickets for the showcase of local and national improv comedy talents, August 16th – 25th.

This year’s featured acts include MadTV’s Stephnie Weir with husband, Second City’s Robert Dassie in their show Weirdass, Dr. God with Reno 911’s Dave Holmes, San Francisco’s own True Fiction Magazine, Susan Messing returns with her show that blew away last year’s fest, Messing with a Friend, all of which is finished out with the return of Game Island, the elimination-by-improvisation reality show run by Whose Line is it Anyway’s Ron West.

It’s a big year for Bay Area improv – 2012 marks anniversaries for three different improv powerhouses: BATS Improv in Fort Mason is observing their 25th anniversary, as is San Jose ComedySportz, followed up by the 10-year anniversary of San Francisco’s Un-Scripted Theater Company, making for 60 years of improvisation to celebrate at this year’s fest.

BATS Improv opens the fest on the 16th with a two act show featuring alumni and current members, followed up on the 23rd by Un-Scripted Theater Company with their completely improvised and truly ridiculous Bollywood puppet musical – with more to come!

Tickets will be available here.
