Not only did San Francisco Giants left fielder and power hitter Melky Cabrera cheat by taking steroids, it now turns out he may have developed an elaborate scheme to avoid getting caught.

The New York Daily News reports that Cabrera created a fictitious website advertising a fake product designed to show he inadvertently took a banned substance that caused him to test positive under Major League Baseball’s drug program. But his cover story didn’t hold up, and his bizarre scheme is attracting attention from federal investigators and MLB.

Cabrera was suspended for 50 games this week after testing positive, and issued an apology admitting his steroid use.
