If everything goes as planned, Indian restaurant Amber Dhara will open this Friday night on the corner of Valencia and 18th streets.

“We have put in a lot of hard work for this particular location to make it right for the neighborhood,” said Vijay Bist, the restaurant’s owner. “We are going to serve smaller plates than our downtown location. Everything will be under $20.”

The bar will include Indian-inspired cocktails and fresh juices. Bist plans to host happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m., with drinks from $3 to $5 and appetizers from $4 to $7.

This will be the sixth restaurant for the Amber India company, which has a location in downtown San Francisco and four on the peninsula.

  1. Who remembers the Indian place on Valencia at 18th (maybe 17th?) that had belly dancers?

  2. Finally! We live above this place and the constant noise, water and gas turn-offs, ‘industrial safety improvements’ inside our apartment, 7am construction work, and all-round interruptions for the last 6 months has been very distressing!

    1. My condolences. I lived above a restaurant for years, and the sounds of the place became a total nuisance. Never again. I will be eating there, tho.
