Play-fighting can get violent. Two people were injured at Dolores Park Saturday night for trying to stop what they thought was a real fight, police said.

A group of young men, described as 16 to 21 years of age, were play-fighting at the park on Saturday when another man tried to intervene, thinking it was a real fight. The group ran, but two turned around and hit the bystander, knocking him to the ground.

Another bystander tried to help and was kicked by one of the suspects.

The victims’ injuries were not life-threatening and both were taken to the hospital. Police said that no description of the suspects was available.
