Firefighters put out a two-alarm fire last night at 215 Sanchez St. between 15th and 16th streets, reports the San Francisco Examiner.
After calls came in around 10 p.m., the apartment building was evacuated and one person was hospitalized, a fire dispatcher said.
Earlier Twitter reports said that heavy smoke was coming from the third story at the rear of the building, and that the vicim was found unconscious in the apartment. One scared cat was found alive and returned to its owner.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the Examiner reports.
