On Thursday morning, local residents converged on a Planned Parenthood health center at Valencia and Duncan streets to oppose the tactics of an anti-abortion activist.

  1. There are several schools in the area around this clinic, and I myself walk my child by these signs on the way to his school in the morning. Also, many of the clinic’s patients have children that come into the clinic with them. It’s too bad that anti-abortion people often neglect the well being of children that are here with us for their abstract views about unborn embryos and fetuses.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT ROSS WAS OUT AT THE CLINIC IN PERFECT HEALTH TODAY, 2 DAYS AFTER HE SAYS HE WILL NOT BE THERE BECAUSE OF SURGERY. I BELIEVE HE HAS POSTED ABOUT HIS ABSENCE HERE TO LULL PEOPLE INTO BELIEVING THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO SHOW UP AT THE CLINIC TO PROTECT OUR RIGHTS AND THE RIGHTS OF THE PATIENTS THERE. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE HIM.

  3. I would like to correct some of the misleading and outright lies at Thursday’s protest in San Francisco at Planned Parenthood clinic.
First: Jennifer Beach has stated, and others, that I scream and yell at the patients as they enter the clinic and tell them that they are going to hell if they kill their baby, not true. I offer the patients information, counseling, financial aid, medical help, and housing. On my truck, I do have a poster, beneath the suffering Jesus Christ, that says Obey God’s laws or burn. This is biblical. I did not invent these words.

Second: Blair Sander states that there is a school two blocks up from the clinic and the kids that go by get traumatized from my graphic posters, not true. I have been protesting at the clinic for the past six weeks, and I have not seen many kids use this street to go to school or to return home. Besides, children from 1 to 5 do not pay attention to the posters unless their mothers bring it to their attention. When they start to reason and understand, it should be explained to them that abortion is the killing of a pre–born baby that is allowed in this country which is wrong, evil, and should not be allowed to continue!
Third: it has been stated that I was kicked out of San Mateo and, it was the reason that I started pro–testing in San Francisco, again not true. I have been pro–testing a Planned Parenthood clinic that just open in San Mateo trice a week.
Lastly, I truly believe that Free Speech is the Corner Stone and Foundation of our country. By the way, when I arrived at the clinic that Thursday to exercise my free speech rights at 6:45 am, I was met with two anti–lifers who blocked me and kept me in the middle of the street and told me that I could not set up my posters on the sidewalk. So much for their respect for Free Speech.

    1. Ross, how do you think people that have suffered a miscarriage feel when they walk by your protest truck and see those extremely graphic images? I know you don’t care, but I need you to know that it’s not just kids 1 through 5 that are disgusted by those images. Your methods are severely flawed.

  4. This was not a “counter-protest,” because that implies that the misogynist creep assaulting our community is “protesting.” He’s not protesting anything, he is traumatizing our children with his photos and traumatizing women seeking health services. Nor are we “protesting” this man’s violent and offensive behavior: we are defending our community from attack.

Extremely disappointed with this piece of coverage.

  5. My name is Ross Foti, and I have been doing
pro-life work for the past twenty years only for noble purposes. I go to the abortion clinics for a chritable sevice at my own expense and time, to inform, educate, and counsel women who are not fully informed about the negative affects of abortion. ……
The anti-lifers have been saying that the reason why I go to the abortion clinic is to traumatize the patients by yelling, screaming, and telling them that they are going to hell. Yes, I have used that expressing of hell with some of the anti-life protesters, that foster abortion but not the patients. ….
I assure you that displaying my graphic posters at the abortion clinics have not been negative but positive! I have had a number of women come back years later, as long as ten years, with their babies, thanking me and telling me that it was because of the graphic posters that made them change their mines of having an abortion. I also have had a number of women stop at the clinic and tell me that if they had only seen my graphic posters that they would not have had an abortion, very sad.
Lastly, I think that we should all pray for the anti-lifers who are very comfused, misguided, and in denial! …..

    1. Ross Foti, I am a women who has had an abortion and I’m here to tell you you are not the authority on “the truth of abortion”.

The truth of abortion is not a mangled fetus.

The truth of abortion is a healthy woman who lives sustainably, both on this planet and within herself.

The best observance of life is not blind genuflection; it is measured control of our procreative powers.

  6. In the name of my family members and friends who have suffered and died from breast cancer, I have to say, this man’s behavior is an outrage. I don’t care what he thinks about abortion or free speech, he can get the hell out of my neighborhood.

  7. I don’t think it’s journalistically necessary to give “equal coverage” to someone who is trying to stop women from receiving healthcare by videotaping them as they enter and exit a healthcare facility, and assaulting them and the neighborhood with huge gory fake photos, misinformation, and calls to repent or burn.

  8. For all the air time you gave this guy you could have mentioned that (when he isn’t on camera) he charges at women with that gross big sign while yelling at them about going to hell. In one week he’s been arrested twice (misdemeanor) for violently harassing women. His misogynist freak-show moved from San Mateo to SF after the community chased him out for aggressively harassing women (not expressing a political view). It took twenty years for San Mateo to get rid of him. Prettying him up (he comes off quite differently on camera than in person) will only make it take longer to get him out of here and make that MEDICAL CLINIC safe again.

  10. The video gives this guy a lot of airtime, and he uses it to good advantage, talking about his free speech rights. But in fact it’s not about free speech. He assaults women seeking health care, and his obscene photos are an assault on our children who pass by on their way to and from school at Buena Vista Horace Mann, just down the street a few blocks. Children suffer psychological damage from seeing this sort of obscenity; that’s why we don’t let them watch grossly violent movies. It’s outrageous that this guy gets to attack our children’s health.

Furthermore, the video fails to mention that he is breaking the law. He has already been cited twice by SF police for violating the “bubble law” ordinance.
