Extras hang out and wait for the signal to walk through the scene during a shoot for Knife Fight on 16th and Folsom Streets

Well, not exactly a knife fight, but there was a big scene over at Jim Georgie’s Donuts at Folsom and 16th streets for most of Thursday, as crews filmed a scene for the upcoming film “Knife Fight.” Directed by Bill Guttentag, the indie film tells the story of political scandal and the fixers who clean up the mess when a politician gets out of control. (Yeah, sort of like Congressman Weiner’s case, but not.)

Rob Lowe, one of the stars of the movie according to IMDB, was on the scene and inside the doughnut shop, but impossible to catch on our camera. Producers there said that except for one scene in Kansas, the entire film is being shot in San Francisco.

It’s scheduled for release in the fall of 2012 — just in time for the presidential election season.
