An occasional collection of bites.

The guy behind the counter at The Sandwich Place said he’d make a believer out of me, and he did. Sophie’s Choice is one of many vegetarian options — marinated portabella mushrooms, cooked bell peppers tucked between a wheat roll. Coated with plenty of a sundried tomato mayo, it’s a little greasy, but not dripping down your face. The staff all seem to be related, and give hugs to some customers as their conversations fly back and forth between Spanish and English.

A banana cream pie slice from Mission Pie. They save my life during rainy season haha.

Chicken salad and a pork banh mi sandwich at a Rice Paper Scissors pop-up at Rebar. Soooo good, but they’re taking June off, so you’ll have to sign up for their newsletter to see where they will be in July.

Focaccia and a raw artichoke salad at Locanda. Wow. Definitely the best focaccia I’ve had in the city — drenched with olive oil but crisp. The pasta with fava beans/leaves and ricotta salata, also delish. Oh, and the snap peas with mint. All must-eats.
