The SF Chronicle reports that scientists testifying at a state Assembly hearing said that science was “subverted” when the department approved the use of methyl iodide as a pesticide on strawberries.

Dr. Joanne Perron, Mission Loc@l’s columnist from UCSF, wrote about the same dangers late last year in “Beware the Seductive Strawberry.” Perron included a list of fruits and vegetables that are best to buy organic, and another of produce grown with fewer pesticides.
