A trio of restaurants opened in the summer of 2010 on Valencia between 22nd and 23rd and across from the Mission Campus for City College.

We plan to follow them over the next year to see how their move to the Mission develops, how it changes the block, how it impacts nearby businesses such as Boogaloos and El Majahual. This piece was shot in the fall soon after BCubed opened in August.

  1. Is it just me, or did Zaytoon Wraps seem like it was under “wraps” for over a year? Restaurants stuck in birth like Zaytoon (or Grub, for that matter) show a side of the restaurant industry that few of us really see. Why do places like this take so long to start? How much money do they lose while renting without serving a single dish?

  2. This is great.
Could there be a follow-up to show how La Majajual is doing? (Did I spell that right?) – It’s such a great mom and pop (Colombian/Salvadorian) in between these new restaurants. I wonder how they feel about the changes.

  3. Don’t forget Pi Bar, a few blocks down. As a nine year resident of the neighborhood, I’m thrilled to watch what’s happening on this part of Valencia. Thanks for giving it some ink, please keep it up.
