San Francisco, CA, March 25, 2010 -Southern Exposure is proud to present Space Odyssey, our Annual Fundraiser and Art Auction on Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 7:30 – 10:30 pm. This year, we are excited to announce that our Art Auction will be held at our new home at 3030 20th Street, San Francisco, CA 94110. The night features a Live and Silent Art Auction of work from over 150 established and emerging artists, delicious food and beverages, music, and creative projects. Over 600 artists, collectors and supporters are expected to attend this spectacular evening. This famously fun event provides direct and critical support for Southern Exposure’s programs and enables SoEx to continue to serve as the most dynamic, independent local hub for the Bay Area visual arts community. Space Odyssey VIP Reception
The VIP reception is an exclusive pre-party reception for Host Committee ticket holders from 6:00 – 7:30 pm that gives collectors and Southern Exposure supporters the opportunity to place early bids, take advantage of the ‘buy it now’ option on silent auction items, and enjoy mingling with select artists in a fun and intimate atmosphere. There will be a variety of culinary pleasures for guests courtesy of local restaurants such as Flour + Water, Mijita, Serpentine, Slow Club, and cocktails by Batiste Rum.
Creative Projects
As part of the evening’s festivities, auction attendees will get a stellar keepsake from SoEx, and a chance to tour the stars, with help from photographers Winni Wintermeyer and Sarah Mcmenimen. Also on view will be an interior site-specific installation by Charlene Tan, and a unique parade of vintage helmets courtesy of Nathan Lynch.

Space Odyssey will feature over 150 original works by nationally recognized and emerging artists such as Ant Farm, Renee Gertler, Jim Goldberg, Barry McGee, Jim Melchert, Alison Pebworth, Genevieve Quick, and Catherine Wagner. Preview Exhibition
Artworks will be available to preview in person at Southern Exposure from Monday, May 3 through Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 12 to 6 pm. Images of the artwork will be on the SoEx website, www.soex.org/soexauction2010.html, starting in late April. As with all Southern Exposure exhibitions, the preview is free and open to the public.
