THORNY BROCKY: Multi-genre Mash-up

Thorny Brocky is Aaron Novik’s most recent creation, a live ensemble that performs music from all of Aaron’s previous projects. This includes Floating World, an art song/pop band; Simulacra, a clarinet metal band; Crafty Apples, a minimalist chamber improv group; Gubbish, a gypsy jazz folk group; and Love Triangle Elementary School, an indie rock/experimental improv band.

Tonight’s first set will include music from all of the projects Aaron has composed for. The second set will consist of compositions from other members of Thorny Brocky, originally written for their respective ensembles—including music from Lisa Mezzacappa’s Bait and Switch, Marie Abe’s O Pomelo, and Dina Maccabee’s Ramon and Jessica.

Aaron Novik: bass clarinet, compositions
Kasey Knudsen: alto saxophone
Dina Maccabee: violin
Marie Abe: accordion
Lisa Mezzacappa: bass
Jamie Moore: drums
