Teachers, community members, students and their families were invited to Sanchez Elementary’s Fourth Annual Health and Nutrition Night on Thursday. About 200 were expected to attend the fair that promoted healthy eating and an active lifestyle.

The tantalizing aroma of food donated by Tangerine Restaurant wafted through the school’s cafeteria as children explored information booths about how to get the most out of every food group.

Guests also enjoyed strawberry-banana smoothies made by student volunteers with fruit donated by Whole Foods, yoga, games and a raffle that featured two bicycles and gift certificates to local restaurants.

Made possible through a partnership with the Children’s Council of San Francisco, which started the event four years ago, this is the third time Nutrition Night has been held at Sanchez.
