We’re all on a budget these days, so why not check out a few of these cheap places to eat. Thanks to SFGate for the lowdown.
For lunch I had some bargain bites of my own, at Schmidt’s. Where else will eight bucks get you a generous salad and an even more generous portion of cheesy herbed spatzle and chantrelles?
If meats your mood, eight bones will buy you a deliciously golden brown kielbasa and two types of killer mustard. Prices still to steep? Don’t fret, try butternut squash bisque with almonds and lemon cream for only five.
Is your soul as hungry as your stomach? Here’s one way to be full-filled. Today Papalote’s Fulton Street location will be donating money to help victims of tropical storm Ketsana where 2.5 million people’s homes have flooded and the death toll continues to rise.
Numbers are important, and next Monday City Supervisor David Campos will be counting on their power. October 5th marks the first vote on his proposal to give due process to undocumented youth, before reporting them to Immigration. With Newsom and Kamala Harris against him, he’s counting on other Supervisor’s support. The editorial staff at San Francisco State University is on his side, but who else will step up to the plate?
If you’d like to hop on the bandwagon, join the cause on facebook.
While city hall plays its own game of cat and mouse, why not check out the West Coast Kings and Queens Chess Tournament October 10th. Get down to some hip-hop beats while strategizing with some of the Mission’s boldest and brightest youth.
If you can’t wait a week to hear some good tunes, hop on the wiggle and head over to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in Golden Gate Park. Today you can see MC Hammer—I know, WOW—John Prine, and all the country drawl of Lyle Lovett. Saturday and Sunday continue the tradition with everyone from Emmy Lou Harris to Aimee Man.
Enjoy!
