While the Board of Supervisors decided to refer the adoption of District 11 Supervisor John Avalos’ Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) budget proposal to committee, residents aired their grievances against the MTA and city budgets.
Herbert Weiner said the MTA was “out of control.” Its motto, he added, should be “misery loves passengers.” Otto Duffy, another San Francisco resident who lives in North Beach, was infuriated about budget cuts and the proposed city budget.
“We’ve already cut programs to the bone,” he said. “We’re cutting into the bone!”
A regular who likes to sing during public comment, entertained by ending his song with a little criticism of the mayor’s proposed cuts. But for many of the public in attendance at the afternoon meeting, the only thing funny was that budget . One angry city resident echoed others. It was, he said, a joke, and one the Supes will take up next week.
