As artist spaces in the Mission District continue to dwindle, a number of local creatives gathered at the Mission Neighborhood Centers on Capp Street on Sunday to explore their loss and share their stories and, ultimately, to do what they do best: Make art.
Jennifer Ewing, an artist based in the neighborhood, planned the therapeutic and ceremonial workshop for evicted artists in the Mission in hopes that it might help the grieving process and draw attention to continuing displacement. Each participant created a small, symbolic spirit boat.
