Tonight at 6PM, Joe Eskenazi is hosting a discussion on the killing of Banko Brown and the layers upon layers of San Francisco injustice that it exposed. With him at Manny’s will be Geoffrea Morris and Honey Mahogany: tickets here, with all proceeds going to the Young Women’s Freedom Center.

Thanks to organizing, city rent relief funds, and legal help, a 70-year-old tenant was able to avoid being evicted for rent debt built up during the pandemic. Other tenants are still facing homelessness, though: a lawyer with Legal Assistance to the Elderly says most eviction lawyers in the city have a majority of cases involving nonpayment of rent during Covid-19.
