We’ve got a lot of news this Tuesday. Just a few of the stories:

Remember “killer robots?” That was part of the debate over SFPD’s equipment use policy, passed (minus the robots) to address a California law requiring local cops to reveal how much they spend on military-style weapons, and how they’re used. But the policy doesn’t provide a complete accounting, and the American Friends Service Committee sued the city, accusing the SFPD of ignoring a public records request about its military-style weapons for 15 months.

In response to some neighbors’ complaints, the SFPD promised that motorcycle cops (minus the robots) will be deployed to Capp Street on Fridays and Saturdays to deter sex work. And Supervisor Hillary Ronen’s office released a plan to block drivers from “cruising up and down to solicit sex workers” by putting barricades on Capp at 19th, 20th, and 21st streets.

On nearby 18th and Capp, baker Xan Devoss of Fox and Lion Bread is opening a storefront –“a refuge for people to relax and get some food”–featuring her organic sourdough breads, along with coffee, salads, and pizzas to order. Devoss, who sold her artisan loaves for years at the Mission Mercado farmers’ market, is looking forward to running a bakery in the neighborhood. “Everyone seems to live on Capp,” she said.

Finally, a correction: Yesterday’s newsletter said that 20% of all city-owned vehicles have had their catalytic converters stolen, but in fact it’s 20% of the city-owned Priuses. Apologies, and please let us know when you spot any mistakes!
