As you may have figured out from all the honking and yelling last night, Mexico won, advancing to the World Cup knockout stage. Check out our guide to World Cup watch parties, events, and cool sports bars around town.

In other news last night, police and sheriff‘s deputies swarmed an alley between 15th and 16th streets in a raid on a Wiese Street dwelling, detaining at least six men. Oscar Palma reported from the scene.

Xueer Lu has a great story on the only independent Chinese-language bookstore in Chinatown and its young owner. Part coffee shop and part busy community living room, Unbound‘s events include movie night, author talks, and an interactive timeline of Chinese immigration to San Francisco.
