Good afternoon!

The abrupt shutdown of Cruise robotaxis might not mean good news for its competitor Waymo. Driverless vehicles are regulated by the state, but SF can block Waymo’s access to the lucrative airport, says Supervisor Aaron Peskin, unless it meets the city’s conditions. Read Joe Eskenazi on the latest skirmishes in “legislative guerrilla warfare” against robotaxis.

I missed this late-breaking story on Friday: The Feds hit two more former DBI employees, Cyril Yu and Rudy Pada, with bribery charges. They also charged Pada with hiding an interest-free $85,000 loan from a Bernie Curran-connected developer in a scheme Mission Local reported in 2021.

Corruption charges are just one of the items in our news quiz of the week: test yourself! And consider supporting our year-end campaign so we can keep reporting in-depth on city shennanigans.

More soon,

Sara
