Good afternoon!
Mayor Daniel Lurie warned a skeptical Sunset crowd to pass his upzoning plan or face much worse, with the state making all decisions on new housing. Lurie spoke soothingly to residents’ fearsโunlike the architect of the state laws, Sen. Scott Weiner, who defiantly reiterated his pro-housing stance.
Mayor Lurie celebrated another state law sponsored by Sen. Weiner, which allows the SFPD to ticket and fine vendors selling stolen goods. It’s not going into effect quickly, though: Read the fine print from Oscar Palma.
Logan Hollarsmith, a San Francisco native and a captain in theย flotilla sailing to Gaza with humanitarian aid,ย has been released from detention by the Israeli Army. Xueer Lu talks with his mother about which local officials offered to help.
Manga and a painted 1964 Buick at the de Young, a “phenomenal” Suzanne Jackson career retrospective at SFMOMA, and so much more around the city. Check out what’s new at museums this month.
More soon,
