In 1966, KQED’s Robert Zagone used his hand-held camera to “uplift the voices” of drug users, a lesbian couple, and young runaways living in the Tenderloin. The Tenderloin Museum and the Roxie are presenting his documentary again tomorrow, in conversation with Zagone, now 87 years old.
Edinburgh Castle Pub, “the last true dive bar in San Francisco,” was shuttered after being foreclosed on. The Scottish bar and music venue was known for its punk shows, sweaty dance parties, and “music so loud it would leave your ears ringing.”
No updates yet on yesterday’s daylight shooting on Mission near 16th. Quite a change from Friday’s report, when the area around 16th and Mission had been cleared by cops, while 24th and Mission was crowded with vendors.
