Good afternoon! We’ve got some election news:
Labor icon Dolores Huerta has endorsed State Senator Scott Wiener for Congress, surprising allies of Supervisor Connie Chan, who’s widely seen as labor’s candidate. Yujie Zhou reports on the role of Huerta’s longtime union ally Sal Rosselli in securing the endorsement.
Meanwhile, Yujie writes that Track AIPAC, the group that accused Chan during the primary of being tied to pro-Israel lobbyists, is now endorsing her. It’s not clear if Chan’s rival-turned-supporter Saikat Chakrabarti helped with the reversal.
See our back story on Chakrabarti‘s pledge to help Chan.
And Brandon Pho writes that after losing badly with their candidate Matt Mahan in the primary, some Silicon Valley figures are now throwing their support to Xavier Becerra for governor. Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan, not previously a fan, is among those who’ve donated the maximum amount to Becerra.
More soon,
Sara
