The S.F. deputy sheriffs’ union spent $30,000 on posts pushing a narrative about the heroism of a deputy last December when social worker Alberto Rangel was fatally stabbed at the General Hospital. That story was debunked, writes Abigail Vรขn Neely: In fact, clinic staff were the ones who stopped the attack. Current union leadership said the posts were “frankly insensitive.“

The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco education department is taking over the volunteer docent organization, and re-training museum guides. Nicholas David reports that some docents worry free public tours will be sidelined in favor of revenue-seeking programs.
