The city has told Hospitality House that it must close its 6th Street drop-in center in the interests of “revitalization,” reports Adriana Gutierrez, after complaints about homeless people hanging out on the street. The program manager pointed out that the center actually offers a place for people to hang out indoors, and said, “This area is going to get worse than they think.”
And Silicon Valley congressman Ro Khanna endorsed Connie Chan in her congressional race. Yujie Zhou explains why Khanna, a progressive who is not in Nancy Pelosi‘s orbit, may broaden Chan’s base among anti-establishment voters.
Well, it’s been a long time coming, but Cinderellaโthe Russian bakery known for its piroshki and honey cakeโwill finally open on 24th Street at the end of August. Oscar Palma has the sweet details.
