Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

As D4 Supervisor Joel Engardio faces a recall election September 16, will his constituents care about the rest of his legislative record? Junyao Yang looks at what else Engardio’s done besides advocate for closing the Great Highway.

It’s rare to find support for the cityโ€™s plan toย to increase density in the Westside, but a small group of YIMBYs in the Richmond met with Planning Department staff to express their interest in upzoning.

Sad news: David Crook, a beloved Mission District artist and astrologer, has died. Crook lived on 23rd Street for decades, where he kept his garage studio open to neighbors and visitors.

And the massive metal mural that used to adorn the iconic warehouse CELLspace has found a permanent home at The Midway gallery. An exhibition of former CELLspace artists will run there until September 10.

More soon,

Sara
