• In budget-battle news, more than 100 advocates rallied outside City Hall today, demanding the city fund a variety of Latinx programs. The Latino Task Force and others said help was needed to stabilize a community that’s still reeling from the pandemic.

• A federal injunction last December forbade San Francisco from carrying out most sweeps of homeless encampments —but real life is different. Some people in tents say sweeps have paused, while others say they’ve had their property seized or been told to pack up and move, particularly before Carnaval.

The city has erected new fences around the McDonald’s on Mission and 24th Streets, in an effort to push unpermitted street vendors out of the area. But permitted sellers and business owners say the vendors have just moved down the block and set up shop north and south of the fences.
