Overview

Mission Resources

The Mission District, long an immigrant enclave, has a strong history of organizing and activism as well as arts and culture. After the 1906 earthquake, Mission Street became the city’s main shopping area while downtown recovered. It has some of the city’s oldest housing stock and displacement has long been an ongoing issue as newcomers look for affordable space.
