Verdi Club: The Carington Swing Quintet at the Woodchopper’s Ball
CARINGTON SWING QUINTET:
Experiencing Carington Swing live is to be transported back to a 1930’s Parisian café. Their fiery, yet romantic style pays homage to the music of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Carington Swing remains faithful to the original instrumentation by featuring violin, bass, and guitars, but pushes the sonic boundaries of Gypsy Jazz by mixing in the sounds of Latin, Eastern European folk, and Classical music in their original compositions and soloing. Comprised of accomplished musicians from the Bay Area, the band is led by lead guitarist Christophe Carington. Christophe has lived in Paris, played Gypsy Jazz around the world, and has toured the U.S. with the famous Hot Club of San Francisco.

WOODCHOPPER’S BALL:
The Woodchopper’s Ball, San Francisco’s swing hot spot, is a weekly Tuesday night swing dance event held at the historic Verdi Club in San Francisco’s Mission district. Named after the classic 1939 swing tune by the Woody Herman Orchestra (and their biggest hit!), it features monthly classes, a full bar (21+ only), and a dance party with a drop-in lesson and the largest variety of live swing dance music in town!
* LIVE MUSIC DANCE PARTY, 9:00-11:30pm, with a different band each week! $20 admission (cash only, please) includes a drop-in Basic Swing dance lesson (9:00-9:15pm), perfect for complete beginners (no partner required)!
* FULL BAR & LOUNGE, 8:00pm-closing (21+ only)! Enjoy a classic cocktail in the swanky vintage bar and lounge!
* 2,500-SQ-FT DANCE FLOOR: Large, beautiful, hardwood dance floor with plenty of room to swing out!
* JUNE (5-week) LINDY HOP and BALBOA monthly class series continue tonight, 7:00-9:00pm. Single Monthly Class drop-in: $30/person/week (includes Dance Party!), no partner required.
