Southern Exposure: Youth Advisory Board Teen Clothing Swap

The Youth Advisory Board Teen Clothing Swap is this Thursday, March 2, 5:30pm-6:30pm. Bring lightly worn clothing to trade with others. Any unclaimed clothes will be donated. Also, guest artist, Anna Firth, will screen a collection of short animations during the clothing swap. Following the screening, Anna will speak about her process and art practice as an independent animator. Anna will also share behind the scenes on her upcoming film, 7 Minutes in Heaven. Anna’s talk will be at 6pm.
From and living in Northern California, Anna Firth belongs to the new generation of experimental character animators who throw impromptu animator picnics and hand out crusty old peg bars to anyone who mentions wanting to start animating. She is half of the Bay Area animation project Soft Screen and the whole of her studio practice involving short videos and illustrations. Onscreen, her anthropomorphic characters dance expressionlessly. Stiff backgrounds and abrasive soundtracks summon unrelenting dog people or people dogs or dog people. Anna currently teaches animation at CCA in San Francisco.
